struggling for energy

sTRUGGLING FOR ENERGY -

Do you often feel tired even though you had a full nights sleep? Or a lack of energy in the afternoon, and do you feel like you wish you had more power to make better use of your time.?

We work, plan, organise, and, as busy people, feel like we are constantly on the go. So we often fuel ourselves on coffee and pure determination to keep going until our to-do lists are all ticked off. Then we fall onto the sofa in a stupor.

The reasons why you may feel tired and depleted of energy can vary from simple, such as lack of sleep or dealing with stress at work, to much more complex ones, such as living with a chronic condition or following treatment for chronic disease.

However, there are changes that we can make that can make a massive difference in our daily lives.

Diet:

One of our primary sources of energy is, of course, the food we eat. So, if we want to keep our energy levels up, we must eat healthfully and integrate the most nutritious foods into our diets.

Skip the toast or cereal for breakfast that tend to cause the body to crash a few hours after eating, and replace it with lean protein, good fat and some good carbs to sustain your body throughout the morning.

Take a multivitamin at lunch. We get an energy boost from vitamins, but we usually don't notice because most of us wash them down with coffee or tea,

Do have a couple of snacks throughout the day. Protein and fibre will help the blood sugar boost last longer. Also, try trail mix: nuts and seeds, coconut, and dark chocolate chips.

Yoga and Meditation:

Practising yoga and meditation might also help to boost your energy levels. This is because yoga and meditation focus on techniques — such as mindful breathing — that aim to promote a state of calm.

Yoga poses that stretch the spine (which is a lot of them) can help combat fatigue and boost feelings of vitality and help counter some of the effects of long periods of sitting. So instead of reaching for that cup of coffee, try yoga moves to increase levels naturally. Take Adaptogens

Like worry or fear, stress can leave you mentally and physically exhausted. Even low levels of chronic stress can erode energy levels over time, leaving you feeling less motivated to do daily activities.

Adaptogens, being restorative or stress-protective, improve attention and focus while reducing the risk of mental fatigue. These herbs and roots have been used for centuries in Chinese and Ayurvedic healing traditions.

Sleep

It's vital to make sure that you get enough good-quality sleep at night to prevent fatigue or recover from the effect of tiring or stressful activity throughout the day.

According to Shawn Stevenson, the author of Sleep Smarter, good sleep helps you shed fat for good, stave off disease, stay productive and improve virtually every function of your mind and body. I highly recommend you read his book; it's become like my bible for sleep and helping clients get better sleep.  Please get it here.

Finally, a great way to really sort out your Energy, sleep, and increase your overall health is to do a reset. Maybe this is a perfect time for you to try this.  Click here for more details.

Remember, the energy goes where attention flows!!!
