Welcome to Wellness
What does Wellness mean to you? Do you feel Well. Are you happy with how you feel? That is what I started to ask myself about 20 years ago.
I was 30, living in Indonesia with 2 small children and running a busy and fast-growing clothing company. In honesty, I was exhausted, and run down emotionally and physically. I was cranky, frustrated and looking back on it now, totally adrenally fatigued. However, on paper, and as an outsider it would appear to be a perfect life. We had built a gorgeous house in the rice fields, my business was booming, I had 2 nannies, a cook, a gardener, 3 drivers and a house keeper.
Never judge a book by its cover. What no one was seeing was how stressed I was. Stress is so detrimental to our health. It was making me tired, anxious, and unhappy. Stress had become normal so I was numb to it. I was told its normal, your running a business, 2 small children, living in a foreign country and having to talk in a foreign language constantly. All the other expat women were feeling the same so it felt normal.
I can tell you its not normal..
Now luckily, I already had yoga in my life. I also was very much into natural medicine as I didn’t trust doctors in Indonesia with my children, so I had become as much as I could my own doctor and would use homeopathy, and Chinese medicine to heal any ailments they had.
Something had to give, and I couldn’t let it be my sanity, so I started to practice yoga daily. At this stage there were no yoga teachers in Bali, (imagine that now!) so I relied on my own training and teaching that I had. I took time for myself every day. This in itself was a big decision as I had told myself the story of, I am too busy to take anytime out. I also had a chi kung teacher a lovely Chinese man that taught me a lot about protecting my energy.
I made a decision to change. I wanted to feel well in body and mind. I went more deeply into Chinese medicine and I started to create a great regime and got well. It was a journey, it didn’t happen over night. I started to see changes in myself and this inspired me to keep going, to keep learning and to stay focused on wellness.
Fast forward to now living in Australia with my Australian husband 3 kids and or dog Bella. I am so grateful for the life I lead now. I work full time on coaching people to be well. Helping them to see the change that is needed and is available to them. Then taking them through a step by step approach that includes yoga, good clean food, breath work and setting some goals to cement it all together.
Life can be tough, its not perfect, I still have days when I fall down, but the difference is I know what to do to life myself back up and I choose to follow that path.
Health is not fluid. Its not the same, day in day out. It changes as we change and grow into different stages of our lives, but the journey is worth it.

Surely, for all of us, our Mission as we age should be to stay well?
I know I certainly want to age well, to be a role model to my kids, my family and friends and to feel that I can keep up with my grand kids and enjoy my life.
When we are young we feel invincible, nothing can get us. As we age this changes. We know that our time is limited, and it all starts to feel so much more important We want to live happily, healthy and be wise. Maintaining an optimal level of wellness is crucial to living a higher quality life. So, wellness and feeling well becomes extremely important if not the most important thing. We can have all the money in the world but if we do not have our health then its hard for us to live our life to its full.

Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth.
This is why I wanted to create Wellness with Amber. I am passionate about helping people to live long and healthy, stay strong in mind and body and age well. I have chosen to focus on combining four elements:
Nutrition - eating clean and supplementing
Movement and Mindfulness - Yoga and meditation
Motivation and goals.
